The total sample of LFS is about 7,559 households distributed over 13 weeks. The sample of the households environmental survey occupies six weeks of the thirty round of the LFS.  The sample chosen by two stages, the first stage represented by choosing a stratified uniform random sample consisted of 481 enumeration areas, while the second stage represented by the choice of a random uniform sample of households in each enumeration area, where 16 households was chosen in each one.\nStratification:\nIn designing the sample of LFS four levels of stratification have been made:\n1.  Stratification by District.\n2.  Stratification by the locality type which comprises: \n(a)Urban\t\t(b) Rural                (c)  Camps \t \n3.  Stratification by households ownership of permanent commodities and means as it was mentioned in census 1997.\n4.  Stratification by locality size (no of households in the locality).\nSampling Unit:\nFirst stage sampling units are the enumeration in the master sample.  The second stage sampling units are households.\nTarget Cluster Size:\nThe \u201ctarget cluster size\u201d or \u201csample-take\u201d is around 16 households per PSU.\nSample Size:\nThe sample size is 4,073 Palestinian households in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where this sample has been distributed according to the locality type.\nSample and Frame:\nThe sample is a two-stage stratified cluster random sample.","sampling_deviation":"-","coll_mode":["Face-to-face [f2f]"],"research_instrument":"The questionnaire covered the following items:\nSource of water supply in houses.\nHousehold solid waste disposal, its components, and its approximate quantity.\nWastewater disposal and the existence and use of cesspits in houses.\nAir pollution in the area of the house by smell, dust and smoke.\nExposure to noise.","coll_situation":"Field operations started on 14\/05\/2005 and lasted until 07\/07\/2005.  Fieldwork teams were distributed to all districts proportional to the sample size in each district.  The fieldwork team consists of 18 members including one fieldwork coordinator, (4) supervisors, (1) editors and 12 interviewers.","act_min":"Field work visits.","weight":"Since the sampling weight is counteractive to the percentage sample from the frame, and as this ratio differs from the percentage sample for the population in the reference period, the weight was therefore adjusted to show the number of population in mid-2005.  The weight was also adjusted to make the distribution of people in the sample by region, type, and age identical to this distribution in the 2007 census. Finally, the weight was adjusted to compensate for incomplete cases that might occur during data collection.","cleaning_operations":"The data processing stage consisted of the following operations:\nEditing before data entry:  All questionnaires were edited again in the office using the same instructions adopted for editing in the fields.\nData entry:  In this stage data were entered into the computer, using Access database.   The data entry program was prepared to satisfy a number of requirements such as:\nDuplication of the questionnaire on the computer screen.\nLogical and consistency check of data entered.\nPossibility for internal editing of questions answers.\nMaintaining a minimum of digital data entry and field work errors.\nUser-Friendly handling.\nPossibility of transferring data into another format to be used and analyzed using other statistical analytical systems such as SAS and SPSS."},"analysis_info":{"response_rate":"Response rate   86.3%","sampling_error_estimates":"Two types of errors affect the quality of survey data, sampling and non-sampling errors.
